ENGINEERING ASSISTANCE TO CUSTOMERS
Our Engineers work with the latest 3D solid Modeling software. If you need Thermal Management assistance we have experts to help determine the most efficient designfor manufacturability while minimizing the cost. Our Brazing experts have over 60 years of combined experience.
PURCHASING OF CERTIFIED RAW MATERIALS
Handling of certified material while assuring traceability to specific Heat Lots is second nature for us. We have incorporated this through our electronic job tracking system.
PRE BRAZE MACHINING OF ROUGH BLANKS WITH HIGH SPEED MACHINING CENTERS
Our state-of-the-art Machining Centers, with spindle speeds up to 50,000 RPMs and positional repeatability to .0001", are second to none. Multi axis capabilities allow us to reduce the number of setups from a normal three axis machining center.
CLEANING LINE PRIOR TO BRAZING
After Pre braze machining, all components follow through a six-step cleaning and drying process, which combines an alkaline cleaner, Reverse Osmosis Water rinse, and an Acid etch of the aluminum surface.
BRAZING PROCESS PER AWS C3.7 (MIL-B-7883)
Aluminum Vacuum furnace brazing is a clean process. Vacuum levels to 1 x 10 (-5) Torr ensure that the brazing occurs in an environment free of any oxides or impurities. Electronic recording and monitoring of temperature provide the necessary process control. Brazing per AWS C3.7 (or Mil-B-7883) Class A or B joints are standard procedure.
SOLUTION HEAT TREATING
Solution Heat Treatment, per AMS 2770, consists of heating and soaking at 985 degrees Fahrenheit followed by a Glycol or water spray quench.
Artificial Aging consists of soaking at a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit for eight hours. This restores the material to its original metallurgical condition.
ACCEPTANCE TESTING - PROOF PRESSURE TESTING
Acceptance Criteria, such as In-house Pressure Testing and Helium Leak Testing, enable our customers to have the utmost confidence in braze joint quality. Ultrasonic C-Scan inspection can also be provided by our certified supply base.
INSPECTION METHODS - CMM & NON-CONTACT VISION SYSTEMS
Our Zeiss CMM machines and Brown & Sharpe CMM with a Ph9 rotating Head, are capable of measuring to 50 millionths of an inch. Two Ram Technology Datastar Vision systems support the inspection department as non-contact measuring devices.
Outside processing from Chromate per Mil-DTL-5543, plus other plating methods, including Chromating, Anodizing, and precious metal plating. Our approved supplier list is constantly monitored for quality and delivery performance.
ASSEMBLY OPERATIONS - INSTALLING HELICOILS, PINS
Assembly operations such as installation of helicoils, inserts, and pins are commonplace in the types of products Riverside produces. Whether it is a specific torque setting for SAE J1926 type fittings, or application of high strength aerospace adhesive, Riverside's technicians have experience with all applicable specifications.
